Education is a natural process carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words, but by experiences in the environment.
- Maria Montessori
At HGM, we recognize this as the beginning of control and coordination of mind and body. In the process, children acquire language (s), develop motor, gross, and cognitive skills, copy the social skills of the adults around them and acquire expectations about how the world will treat them when they move on. The Primary classroom offers the young child a highly structured curriculum specially designed for their own needs. A Montessori school has multi-age classrooms. Older students should be able to model appropriate behavior and guide their younger peers, all while making academic advancements of their own. Studies have shown that the Montessori Method provides a solid academic basis as well as exceptional social skills that prepare children well for a good academic year. Students are taught in other areas which include Grace and Courtesy, Practical life, Sensorial, Language, Math, Social studies, and Geography, Art and Music.
